Description

Why Social Behaviour Change
Changing human behavior is the key to unlocking positive outcomes for social and environmental well-being but it is also a formidable task. A logic model for social change, although linear in nature, is a good starting point to bring about behavioural change in the social and environmental spheres of life.

What we will cover
A logic model is a visual aid used by a wide variety of groups to design, test and implement human behavior change programs. It has parallels with models such as Results Chain and Theory of Change but goes beyond the traditional Input-Output-Outcome-Impact matrix to capture the existing state such as Values, Vision and Mission and also seeks to unearth priorities and assumptions.

The workshop will provide working knowledge of how to use the logic model and apply it to a behavior change program. The workshop will bring out the distinction between symptoms and problems, trace issues to root causes and start the process of development of not just one solution, but an integrated set of solutions. Students can define measurable outputs and goals, and state desirable, qualitative outcomes and provide for immediate feedback and adjustments to the program during early rollout (iterative feedback).

Mark has used logic models in diverse ways such as food-scraps-to-compost initiative, water conservation, dark sky provisioning, implementing smaller efforts like a Repair Café which dovetail into
bigger initiatives like Zero Waste and Circular Economy.
