The Ripple Effect: Healing Ourselves, Healing Our Planet
“The Ripple Effect lucidly reflects the deep interconnectedness of all life, the important links between individual and planetary health, and the critical relationship between well-being and sustainability.”— FRITJOF CAPRA, co-author of The Systems View of Life

In The Ripple Effect: Healing Ourselves, Healing Our Planet, author Andrea Revell PhD., explores the profound interdependence between human wellbeing and the wellbeing of the Earth. What if the crises we see in ourselves, our societies and the natural world are not separate problems, but different expressions of the same underlying disconnection?

At the heart of the book is a simple but far-reaching idea: healing is systemic. Change within one part of a living system ripples outward, influencing the whole. By understanding ourselves as participants within an interconnected web of life, rather than as separate individuals acting upon it, we begin to see personal transformation as part of a much larger process of social and ecological renewal.

Drawing together systems thinking, neuroscience, ecology, psychology, and spirituality, Andrea invites us to reconsider the boundaries we have created between mind and body, self and nature, individual and collective.

Shaktify is pleased to announce a slow read of this book starting 28th Sept ’26. Thereafter, we will meet on the fourth Saturday of October and the first Saturday of December. There will be three Zoom meetings in all culminating in our meeting on 5th Dec. No prior preparation is required but prior reading of the prescribed portion is recommended.

The book begins with the Four Pillars of Health, exploring the foundations of human wellbeing, before widening the lens to the Fifth Pillar of Health: connection — our relationship with one another, society and the living Earth.

Shaktify’s three-month book club will follow this journey from the personal to the planetary, co-hosted by the book’s author, Andrea Revell.

The book is divided into three sections

1. Part 1, Global Health Crisis is a commentary on the challenges facing global health; the limitations of modern medicine; recent trends in healthcare; and why these present a case for hope.
2. Part 2, Four Pillars of Health explores the pillars of good health — relaxation, nutrition, sleep and exercise. It also considers the interdependence between these pillars and introduces the relationship between nutrition and planetary health.
3. Part 3, The Fifth Pillar of Health, Connection introduces an often-overlooked dimension in reductionist approaches to health. It explores connection at multiple levels — from the relationship between mind and body to our relationships with one another, with society, the natural world and the spiritual dimension of life. At its heart is an exploration of our deeply interwoven nature, inviting us to understand ourselves not as separate individuals, but as participants within the sacred web of life.

Rather than offering another prescription for how we should live, The Ripple Effect asks us to look more deeply at who we believe ourselves to be. If we recognise that we are embedded within — and inseparable from — the living systems around us, healing ourselves
becomes inseparable from healing our relationship with the world.
