At The Crossroads of Development, Power, Identity and Peace

United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) were announced with much fanfare but there is every indication that the Global Goals will fall short of their targets in 2030. SDGs are being seen and addressed in isolation and at an overall level are set back by power dynamics, identity wars and systemic obstacles that make the attainment of UN SDGs a far cry.
Development efforts led by the United Nations and other multilateral bodies have failed to take cognisance of Spiral Dynamics, a model which makes distinctions around the stages of human evolution starting from being survival-focussed at one end to instilling a world view that sees our humanity and planet as an inter-connected living system at the other end. In ignoring these distinctions, development efforts have defaulted to a one-size-fits-all approach with the accompanying lacunae becoming an impediment to progress.
In this webinar, Shakti Saran, Founder Shaktify will be in conversation with Khadija Taoufik Moalla, PhD., a senior Development, Human Rights, Gender and Leadership consultant driving global impact. The objective of this webinar is two-fold. First, the endeavour is to learn from Khadija’s journey on dealing with deep rooted social issues while the second objective is to relate her work to the larger SDG story and how the development narrative can be recast to deliver lasting peace besides equality for all.
Topics that will get covered include i) Addressing the challenges of identity in Africa and the Middle East and how these manifest into cross-thematic, vicious social issues ii) Dealing with violent extremism iii) The role of a citizen in democracy and iv) Transforming the development landscape
This webinar duration is for an hour and 15 minutes and is offered without any charge
